Journey’s End is incredibly fortunate to be nestled amongst the Schapenberg hills, beneath which lay 350-million-year-old decomposed granite soils. This creates one of the most prestigious terroirs in South Africa, and is where our vines are planted. As well as fantastic views, our vineyards benefit from the cooling and cleansing south-easterly wind, known locally as the ‘Cape Doctor’, which comes in from nearby False Bay and the Atlantic Ocean.

Journey’s End is the first B-Corp Certified Winery and Vineyard in Africa.
Wholly committed to being environmentally sustainable and socially responsible.
As well as being WIETA and IPW accredited, Journey’s End converted to solar power in 2014 and the farm became fully Fairtrade certified from April 2017.
In 2020 we received the Ethical Company award at The Drinks Business Green Awards, in recognition of Journey’s End Foundation’s work, which has since provided over 8,000,000 meals to our local community to date. In 2021, we again received the Ethical Company award, as well as the Water Management award.
Early in 2021, we attained WWF Conservation Champion status, for our continued commitment to sustainable farming and conservation of native fauna and flora. In 2022 we were the winners of the Social Impact category at Footprint Drinks Sustainability Awards.
In March 2025 Journey’s End became the first B-Corp Certified winery and vineyard in Africa and won the Bellingham Bernard Podlaschuk Trophy for Sustainability and Innovation.

Tasting Note: This Cap Classique is a blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, displaying the full, balanced yeasty complexity synonymous with a wine made in this style. Notes of citrus, pear, crushed almond and biscuit, this Cap Classique is full bodied and well balanced by fresh zestiness as a result of the naturally racy acidity and delicate fruit.
AD INFINITUM
Varietal: 80% Sauvignon Blanc – 20% Semillon

Tasting Note: The Ad Infinitum is a passion project in appreciation of all things white Bordeaux, lime in colour and exhibiting pronounced green fig, kiwifruit, lemongrass, and Cape gooseberry. The palate is full, rich, and round with apparent salinity and granite minerality. Light oak toasting allows for absolute freshness and fruit expression while adding body and weight.
DESTINATION
Varietal: 100% Chradonnay

Tasting Note: The Destination is the pinnacle of white winemaking at Journey’s End. The 2024 nose is complex and delivers concentrated stone fruit with layers of citrus, lemongrass, tropical fruit, and hints of smoky spice attributed to generous oak aging. The ever present natural minerality and acidity ensure freshness and adds focus to a long-lasting creamy finish. The Destination is our interpretation of the great Chardonnays of Mersault.
CAPE DOCTOR
Varietal: 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc, 8% Malbec, 8% Petit Verdot

Tasting Note: This wine exhibits fruits on the darker side of the spectrum with cassis and rich fruitcake on the nose accompanied by cinnamon spice and dark chocolate from generous oak ageing. Concentrated dark berries are complimented by a creamy texture with soft elegant tannins delivering a beautiful long-lasting finish.
THE GRIFFIN
Varietal: 100% Shiraz

Tasting Note: A youthful yet complex wine displaying violets and cherry with white pepper on the nose. The use of American oak adds subtle caramel notes as well as palate weight and mouthfeel. Although rich and succulent, silky polished tannins provide structure and an elegant lingering finish.

Tasting Note: Clear and bright, straw-coloured with a hint of green, the wine shows delicate citrus fruit and orange blossom characteristics. A fruit-forward wine with a smooth palate and zesty finish due to restrained malolactic fermentation. Well balanced with subtle creamy notes providing layered complexity. The natural incorporation of mineral and saline notes promises a unique coastal style Chardonnay.
V2 MERLOT
Varietal: 100% Merlot

Tasting Note: Ruby, clear and bright. Displaying blackcurrants and raspberries, with hints of subtle blackcurrant leaf. The well-matched oak allows for the fruit to shine while creating complexity with notes of vanilla and nutmeg. An elegant, polished wine already drinking well, exhibiting very soft tannins with just enough grip to promise good cellaring potential.
V3 CABERNET FRANC
Varietal: 100% Cabernet Franc

Tasting Note: This wine displays intense ripe cherry, savoury olive and wild fynbos characters on the nose rounded up by a sweet cinnamon spice from generous oak maturation. Great balance is exhibited on the palate with coastal freshness, Mediterranean minerality and soft powdery tannins with a lengthy finish. Best drunk now and until 2032.
V4 CABERNET SAUVIGNON
Varietal: 100% Cabernet Sauvignon

Tasting Note: A core of rich blackcurrants, black plum, with a savoury overlay and mixed spice. The velvety character is a result of generous oak maturation resulting in finely textured tannins and a long-lasting finish. Tasting Note: An expressive aromatic delivery of blackcurrants and violets with white pepper and notes of dried coriander. This wine showcases its carbonic component, which adds an element of playful candied fruit while softening the tannins for easy drinkability. Generous oak aging in larger format barrels allows the vineyard character to shine, with great natural acidity and a silky long-lasting finish.

Tasting Note: Clear pale lemon colour with hints of green. The 2025 edition of the Weather Station displays pronounced green apple, citrus and grapefruits complimented by salty minerality and hints of kiwifruit. A lovely weight and round-mouth feel on the mid-palate, balanced natural acidity bringing with it freshness and length to the finish.
HAYSTACK CHARDONNAY

Tasting Note: A fresh and vibrant Chardonnay that takes its name from the age-old practice of planting wheat between the rows of vines, as a natural way to prevent weeds and stabilise the topsoil. This is just one of a number of organic and bio-dynamic practices on our estate, and the wine pays homage to the preservation and protection of nature under our stewardship at Journey’s End.
Bursting with ripe pear and tropical fruit, balanced by a crisp acidity and a subtle, buttery texture.
WILD ONE GRENACHE ROSÉ
Varietal: 100% Grenache

Tasting Note: The grenache grapes in the Journey’s End’s delicate but vivacious rosé, hail from the Swartland, making it the Wild Child of the group. Hitherto an arid and windswept wilderness better known for sheep and wheat farming, the challenging terroir of the wild West Coast of South Africa is brim-full of potential to grow fantastic grapes.
Wild strawberry, cherry and cranberry abound, with subtle hints of rose petal and crisp acidity, leads to a dry and rounded finish.
HUNTSMAN SMG
Varietals: 63% Shiraz, 21% Mourvedre, 16% Grenache

Tasting Note: In 1811, the first ever hunt in the New World took place in the Western Cape, with hounds imported from Gloucestershire, UK. The foundations of the Cape Hunt hounds’ original kennels were discovered by the Gabb family on the Journey’s End estate, and this momentous site was chosen to form the base of our cellar. Our expressive and juicy red is named in the hounds’ honour.
Layers of red and black berries strewn with violets create an easy-drinking summer red that is to be seriously enjoyed but not taken too seriously.
PASTOR'S BLEND
Varietals: 58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc

Tasting Note: This wine pays homage to the Pastors from the local village of Sir Lowry’s Pass who regularly deliver Sunday sermons at the foot of the Journey’s End vineyard and have assisted our team in channelling resources to uplift the local community. In 2020, the Journey’s End Foundation was established to continue this support through various programmes, including a soup kitchen initiative that delivers over a million meals per year.
Dark plum and black cherry meet sweet tobacco and a touch of Christmas cake in an elegant yet comforting red.
